About the neigborhood:
The 'Negen straatjes', as the Dutch call them, are 9 picturesque alleyways connecting the 3 main canals in the historical heart of town. The area is bustling with boutiques, cafes, restaurant and other great hang outs. The Herengracht is also part of the 'canal belt', which is considered by UNESCO as world Heritage and offers a great overview of the architectural style of the city.
A perfect location to see Amsterdam by foot as you are a few minutes walk from pretty much anything, from the central station and Dam Square to Anne Frank House and pretty much all big museums.
